S T UService Transport Unit for carrying ground support services across an apron-drive telescoping passenger boarding bridge
INET’s Service Transport Unit (S T U) is designed to carry a wide range of electrical and mechanical services across the telescoping sections of all brands of commercial passenger boarding bridges.
With hundreds of gates in service world-wide, these units carry 400Hz ground power and utility power plus hoses for bridge and aircraft cabin air conditioning/heating service, potable water and various communication/ control cables. They are typically mounted on the bottom surfaces of the bridge but may also be designed for side-of-bridge mounting as well. The STU design provides a number of important advantages over alternate means of carrying these services across these difficult moving bridge sections: esthetically pleasing, almost zero-maintenance, full protection of cables and hoses, ability to carry all required services in one device. STU’s are custom-tailored for the particular bridge design (including 2-tunnel and 3-tunnel bridges up to 75M long) and the number and type of services needed for each project. They may be installed on-site or in the bridge manufacturer’s plant. They are typically supplied in a finish to match or complement the bridge color scheme.
